Updates
Here are some updates on Kim's campaign, investigative blogging, voter fraud, the next DNC Chair, organizing caucuses, etc.
Kim’s campaign: The final totals we received had Kim receiving about 39% of the vote. Some people have talked about how sorry they are that Kim didn’t win. However, a lot of people are understanding the victory. I have ended up spending a lot of time sending emails to people around the country about running for local office. Hopefully we will see greater involvement in the 2005 municipal elections and the 2006 mid-term elections.
Investigative Blogging: This idea is really catching fire. We have a wiki and a mailing list set up. We are brainstorming about tasks and structure. We are talking about how we interoperate with many other groups. I will head down to a conference this week in Washington and talk it up more, as others talk this up more around the blogosphere.
Voter Fraud: One thing that some people what a lot of investigation into is voter fraud. I’ve gotten tons of email on this. Everyone is pointing to Thom Hartmann’s article, including a discussion at Greater Democracy. Steve Gilliard has a very good post on this as well. None of this is surprising. I wrote about this back in August. My guess is that there will be lots more exploring into how fair the elections really were.
The next DNC Chair: This is another hot issue right now. The mainstream media is talking about all the likely suspects, Leon Panetta, Bill Clinton, Harold Ickes, Tom Vilsack, Antonio Villaraigosa and so on. The grassroots are all talking about Howard Dean, or perhaps Simon Rosenberg. Everyone is dealing with this their own way. People are creating online petitions. Bloggers are blogging about it. The mainstream media is writing their articles
Meanwhile, I am doing the same thing that I did with the platform. I am urging people to find out who the national DNC Committee members from their state and to contact those people. Engage in a discussion about who the next DNC Chair should be. I’ve put up information about finding your committee members, and what people are saying about different possible candidates at platform.smartcampaigns.com
Organizing Caucuses: I think this fits in nicely with who the next DNC Chair will be. The Progressive Democrats of America are trying to put together their caucuses. People on DailyKos are busy organizing.
I’ve caught up on my email for the time being, but I’m not sure how long it will last.
