Watching the DNC

Today, I received a press release about the DNC Rules Committee holding a conference call on Monday 'to establish the rules and procedures for the February election of the DNC Chair and officers.'

Many people are interested in what will happen this time around, particularly as highlighted by the various efforts to get Howard Dean to be DNC Chair.

I will be picking up my daughter from college that day, but I hope to be back in time to listen in to the call.

I feel it is a positive sign that the DNC is being as open as issuing a press release about the conference call. Personally, I don't think there is much to be said about the conference call yet, but I hope the DNC will appreciate grassroots activists following closely what is going on.

Side comment: My one idea of a proposal for the conference call, but I don't think there is time to get this added effectively: Perhaps the DNC should consider using some form of preferential voting, such as Instant Runoff Voting for how they elect the next DNC Chair.
