Jim Himes for Congress
Yesterday, Jim Himes filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to set up a campaign to run for Congress against Rep. Chris Shays yesterday. Reports about Jim’s campaign can be found in the mainstream media at Stamford Advocate (and the Greenwich Time and the Hartford Courant), the Connecticut Post, The Stamford Times (and Wilton Villager and Norwalk Hour), The Journal-Inquirer, Channel 30, and The Associated Press (Via channel 8).
His announcement is also getting good coverage on the blogs, starting with Connecticut Local Politics and MyLeftNutmeg, with a round-up of the media and Jim liveblogging.
CTBlogger has written about it on Hat City Blog. CTBob writes about Jim’s announcement on his blog.
With such great coverage, there isn’t a lot that I can add other than a personal note. Kim and I met Jim back in 2004 when Kim decided to run for State Representative. Jim was chair of the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee back then, as he still is today. It was during Kim’s campaign that we first got to know Jim and he is a great leader and a good friend. Kim and I are very excited that he is running and will do all that we can to support him.
