Best Practices for Non-profits in Second Life
Friday at 8:30 AM SLT, there will be a presentation and discussion of the paper Best Practices for Non-profits in Second Life by Rik Panganiban of Global Kids. The paper grew out of findings at the 2007 Second Life Community Convention and was sponsored by the Digital Media and Learning Initiative of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
The program will explore what are some of the successes of non-profits in Second Life during 2007, such as the launch of the 32-office Plush Nonprofit Common and great fundraising successes, like the record US$100,000 raised by the SL Relay for Life. Organizers from groups including the SL Relay for Life, the Alliance Library System, Global Kids, and YearlyKos will talk about their own experiences Lessons and they learned.
The event will conclude with a discussion of ideas for next steps in building up civil society spaces in Second Life, and beyond.
Non-profit managers, activists, funders, and community organizers are encouraged to attend this event which will take place at the Main Amphitheater in Plush Nonprofit Commons
