Homeless Children, International - Kenya
Back in May, I wrote about Homeless Children, International - Kenya.. Yesterday, I received an email from Megan White, which I thought I would post here:
Dear Friends and HCI Family,
Big greetings from Kenya!
Today, Monday October 10th, is a very special day:
Today is the anniversary of the day water started freely flowing in Loitkitok!
Can you believe it’s already been a year? Yet, exactly one year ago, Kenya Power and Lighting came and connected the 3-phase power donated by the Ministry of Energy. We decided to declare it a national holiday to mark the historic event, but guess what – it already was a holiday!
I think God planned Moi Day over 30 years ago because he knew that in 2004 our children would get water and He wanted to let us celebrate the momentous occasion with a day off. We’ve simply renamed it "Maji Day" (Maji = water in Kiswahili).
I’m re-compiling my contact list (after a long recovery from my computer being stolen many months ago, and lots of traveling in-between). So, in the coming week I’ll send you some emails looking at the past year, what the future will bring generally, and…. very exciting… an upcoming trip of some of our children to the States in April.
So stay tuned,
and have a blessed week,
Megan
