Rambling around Cyberspace, Part 1
I try to keep my fingers on the pulse of cyberspace. Actually, that sounds pretty pretentious. Really, I like tracking different blogs. I do a bit of it in my role as blogmaster for the DeStefano campaign.
You can see some of the blogs I follow at Bloglines. There, I track campaign sites, and sites from Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Over on Connecticut Local Politics someone pointed to Colin McEnroe’s blog. Besides having a show on WTIC he is teaching a class in blogging at Trinity. Someone posted a comment on his blog pointing a class at Quinnipiac. I’ve added a bunch of the blogs from that class to my Bloglines.
Recently, it appears, they were discussing censorship. This is a topic that I follow closely. Over on Technorati, a top search for the past few days has been IIPM. My friend Jon has also blogged about this. The short version is that some youth magazine wrote an article criticizing a school in India. The school has gone after pretty much anyone that so much as links to the article, including some bizarre attacks. This has led to one blogger resigning from IBM. Read Jon’s post for a more complete story and follow the links from there.
It seems as if this is a perfect case study in how not to respond to attacks. Instead of being an article that appeared in some youth magazine in India, this is now one of the hot topics around the world.
