The water of baptism
hung in the humid haze.
The first light of morning
illumined the haze
turning it light blue
accentuating
the wild hickory
growing
alongside the road.
At the close of day
a young deer
nibbled the overgrown pasture
as a lone lightning bug
trimmed it lamp
as it waited
for the Bridegroom.
