Yesterday, I was pleased to receive a review of the blog from Sigmund, Carl and Alfred. Having a little knowledge of psychology, I guessed that this was in reference to those three great psychologists, Sigmund Foulkes, Carl Rogers, and Alfred E. Newman. I was surprised to find that it is really a reference to Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, three other great psychologists.

I was very pleased with the review and the focus not primarily on left or right, but on ‘Political Pundits and Pipsqueaks’. I get grouped with Maxed Out Mama as ‘fine writers with keen minds…obviously more interested in civil discourse than simply making noise and following the crowd’. I quote this not only because we all like to repeat nice things that have been said about us, but also because it captures an important theme. We need more civil discourse. I am that they pointed out Maxed Out Mama’sblog to me. Perhaps we can have a civil discourse.

In subsequent post, they review Michele Agnew With Michele’s tagline, “the lovely thing about being me is that I’m so damn good at it”, you can see why they would be tempted to classify her as narcissism redefined. However, they capture what I think is really going on with Michele. She is ‘having fun’, ‘truly a nice person’, and encouraging a ‘sense of shared community’.

In my mind, the ‘sense of shared community’ is very closely tied to having a civil discourse, and that is perhaps part of the reason I like reading Michele’s blog.
