Wearing lots of hats
Well, it looks like I’m putting on a new hat, working for the Ned Lamont campaign. It is going to be even more complicated keeping all these hats straight and hopefully this will help some of you have a better sense of the hats I’ll be wearing.
I expect to be spending a lot of time doing online organizing for the Lamont campaign. The details are still being worked out.
I will also continue to be involved with the DeStefano campaign. One of my biggest worries is that people will see this as some sort of coalition. I know there are Malloy supporters that support Lamont and that are DeStefano supporters that support Lieberman. I don't want my involvement in multiple campaigns to alienate such people. This will become all the more important when we all need to work together after the primaries.
Related to this is my support of Diane Farrell and Joe Courtney. I did a lot of volunteer work for Diane last time around and I will do everything I can to help Diane and Joe this time around. I sure hope no one from either of those campaigns do things to drive away supporters of one candidate or another in the Gubernatorial and Senatorial races.
I also hope to find ways of helping whomever the fifth CD candidate ends up being. I hope Chris and Paul can work that out nicely between themselves soon.
I’ve also offered to help David Mooney who is running for State Rep. He is running for the seat that Beth Daponte ran for last time around. I don’t know what Beth is going to do, but I hope that she and David work things out amongst themselves. Beth is another great person to be supporting.
Beyond that, there is the Deval Patrick race in Massachusetts. It is an exciting race that I will do what I can from a far to help, as well as Paul Hackett’s race in Ohio and David Van Os’s campaign in Texas.
Then, I just got an email from an old activist friend in Ohio who has decided to run for State Rep, Marian for Ohio. I don’t know how much I can do to help her from afar, but she will be an exciting candidate.
Then, there is the breadwinner hat. I’m doubt I’ll make enough money off of politics to feed the family so I need to keep working on other projects. Most of this, I’m doing through Toomre Capital Markets. This is utilizing my old information technology skills on Wall Street.
When I’m not doing all the other things, I can simply wear the hat of husband and father, which is, of course, what drives the other things, whether we are talking about earning money or fighting to make this a better country.
So, these are my hats. A lot of it will be manifested in blogging, but a lot won’t. Wish me luck.
