One thing
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Sat, 10/16/2004 - 23:04Over on Michele Agnew’s blog, she asks,
Look around your home and imagine that you have fifteen minutes to evacuate, and the only things that you can take with you are items that will fit in the back seat of a car. So, after you have gathered precious photos, personal mementos and family heirlooms what one thing would you take that is unique to you?
Which reminds me that I must search for a shoe cabinet that will fit in the back seat of my car.
Normally, I avoid these sort of questions. Also, normally, I don't post the more religous side of my being. However, this evening, I posted as my reply:
Eggs
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Sat, 10/16/2004 - 22:04I receive a letter on a mailing list I am on this evening. It said, in part:
I spent a couple hours at the local storefront Kerry/Edwards/Farrell HQ making phone calls.
Freedom of the Press

During the Democratic National Convention, there was a lot of discussion about whether or not bloggers are really journalists. I would like to take this a little bit and wonder if we are part of the ‘press’ and what that means.
The first amendment says, “Congress shall make no … abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”. When this was written, an important part of the press were the pamphleteers and these days, bloggers are often spoken about as the modern day pamphleteers.

Flags... and the People Who Wave Them.
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Fri, 10/15/2004 - 07:59While surfing at Blog Explosion, I stumbled across an interesing blog entry, where the writer rants about flag waving three year olds. She writes, "There's nothing more moving than a small, impressionable child in the midst of a crowd waving a piece of cloth that represents your country, is there? ... I have to admit I get a different feeling when I see pictures like this. It's a sinking, disconnected feeling -- disgust, even."
I wrote the following response:

State Representative Debates
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Thu, 10/14/2004 - 09:30My wife, who is running for State Representative, has her first debate this evening.
As we've prepared for the debate, I've been looking at various sites to get good information on the issues. The Center for Policy Alternatives has a great website for looking up some information.
We've also had some good discussions with people from Democracy for America.
I sent out an email to people that had been involved with the Democracy Forum, and they have sprung back to life. Please visit the new Democracy Forum Blog.
If anyone reading this has specific comments about issues that Kim should address in her debate, or information that would help her, please post it here.
