Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Fri, 06/30/2017 - 02:08Not just two paths diverging
but many paths intertwining
with beautiful vistas along the way
all offer
wonderful opportunities
to savor the journey
and being
a wandering migrant pilgrim.

Another busy day,
pleasant weather,
tasks accomplished,
and sharing thoughts of God
as I struggle to stay awake.
The Daily Examen, Wednesday, June 28, 2017
Am I finding members
of my tribe,
interested in the intersection
of the scholarly, spiritual and active?
Are my hopes taking shape
better
than I could have imagined?

The Daily Examen - June 23, 2017
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Sat, 06/24/2017 - 05:36The water of baptism
hung in the humid haze.
The first light of morning
illumined the haze
turning it light blue
accentuating
the wild hickory
growing
alongside the road.
At the close of day
a young deer
nibbled the overgrown pasture
as a lone lightning bug
trimmed it lamp
as it waited
for the Bridegroom.

The summer solstice brings
a dream of crossing dark water
a crow eating a dead baby owl
in the middle of the road
and pleasant weather
for walking beside
the river.

St. Alban’s day
and I wonder
about the priest
led St. Alban to faith
and whom St. Alban
died instead of.
What happened to that priest?
What happened to faith
so strong
that others would adopt our faith
and be willing to die for it?
