Connecticut
Albright 08, Farrell 06

No, it’s not a sports score, it is a cutsey title to sum up my experiences last night.
Next Monday, the 23rd, marks the ninth anniversary of Madeleine Albright’s swearing in as the 64th Secretary of State to the United States. She has close ties to Connecticut, having gotten her BA from Wellesley College. Her daughter and son-in-law lived in Stamford when they gave birth to her first grandchild. She is an intelligent woman of great stature.
So, it is little surprise that she spent last night in Westport talking to a group of around 100 people about how we can address grave foreign policies issues that face our country. Her first recommendation was that we need to work together to elect Diane Farrell to be our next Congresswoman in the 4th CD.
Reflections on Ned Lamont’s appearance on Connecticut Local Politics.
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Wed, 01/18/2006 - 21:35This is my summarized digest of Ned Lamont’s appearance on Connecticut Local Politics. To see the full set of comments, visit http://connecticutlocalpolitics.blogspot.com/2006/01/ned-lamont-qa.html
First and foremost, I am very glad that Ned Lamont showed up and participated in a good give and take. I firmly believe that these sort of discussions are crucial in strengthening democracy in our country. Whether or not in the end he decides to run, he has already done an important service in encouraging debate about the issues that matter.
CT BloggerCon 1
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Fri, 01/06/2006 - 16:18Last night, various bloggers from around Connecticut gathered at Drescher’s in Waterbury. It was a small gathering that got off to a late start due to some ceremony for Waterbury Police Cadets. One blogger even joined in briefly via cellphone IM. The gathering was dominated by liberal leaning political bloggers from along the coast, so much of the discussion centered around the Governor’s race, and the possibilities of a U.S. Senate race.
There was a discussion about the upcoming Democratic Town Committee Caucuses. Greenwich, Torrington, and Canterbury have news of their Caucuses up on the web. Stratford also supposedly does, but their website seems to be down right now.
Rambling around Cyberspace, Part 1
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Thu, 10/13/2005 - 09:28I try to keep my fingers on the pulse of cyberspace. Actually, that sounds pretty pretentious. Really, I like tracking different blogs. I do a bit of it in my role as blogmaster for the DeStefano campaign.
You can see some of the blogs I follow at Bloglines. There, I track campaign sites, and sites from Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Over on Connecticut Local Politics someone pointed to Colin McEnroe’s blog. Besides having a show on WTIC he is teaching a class in blogging at Trinity. Someone posted a comment on his blog pointing a class at Quinnipiac. I’ve added a bunch of the blogs from that class to my Bloglines.
Connecticut Municipal Elections
Submitted by Aldon Hynes on Wed, 10/05/2005 - 21:16Over on Connecticut Local Politics is a blog post about the upcoming municipal elections. I started to write a comment there, but my browser crashed, so I figured I would start over and write it as a full post on my site.
These are some of the races I’m particularly interested in:
