What is the blogosphere? (Updated 01/08 9:30 PM EST)

In a comment to Sigmund, Carl and Alfred’s blog entry about male and female bloggers, Isabella commented that the blogosphere seemed, at least from her perspective as a woman, like high school.

This fits well with some thoughts that have been mulling over in my head over the past twenty-four hours. Yesterday afternoon I had a wonderful discussion with my daughter Mairead about parallels between France around the time of the French revolution and what is going on in the United States today.

Nick Paindiris on why he is running for CT Democratic Party State Chair

Here is the message that I got from Nick Paindiris about why he is running for State Chair. In his covering email he wrote:
I intend to run on these issues and hope to spark a spirited debate on how to reinvigorate our party

Why am I running for State Chair? I have been a very dedicated “Party” person all my life and I want to make a difference in rebuilding and strengthening our Party. Recently, I headed the Kerry for President Campaign in CT, have served on the DSC for 5 years, and was Chair of the Glastonbury Town Committee for 10 years. The reason I am seeking the position of the DSC Chair, is because I want to take the lead to energize the Party and be an agent of unity and change. The premise of my campaign for State Chair is that we must alter the direction of, and reinvigorate our Party.

Personal Stuff

I feel that I need to provide my loyal readers more of an update than just a few pictures from Christmas. However, these updates will need to wait. There is a lot on my plate right now.

My wife's great-aunt, Anne Goodmaster, passed away on December 22nd. Today was the wake and tomorrow is the funeral. I need to pause, reflect, and add my words about her passing.

SC&A's Holiday Challenge

Over on Sigmund, Carl and Alfred, a brilliant guest post has what has turned out to be a challenge that is harder than it first appears to be. Go out and find a blog of someone radically different from your own, and write something nice about it.

The Democratic State Central Committee in Connecticut is scheduled to meet on January 19th, 2005 to elect new officers. George Jepsen is currently the state chair. He has served well, and served as majority leader of the State Senate from my hometown of Stamford.
